Schools Urged To Indicate Interest in Attending Arbor Expo

Principals of nursery, primary and secondary schools across Barbados are being encouraged to contact the public relations department of the National Conservation Commission (NCC) to indicate their interest in attending the Environmental/Arbor Expo as soon as possible.

This will allow staff at the NCC to adequately prepare for students desirous of touring the plant exhibits during the expo.
Those interested in attending may call 425-1200 to have their schools listed no later than Wednesday, September 25.

Inspections in Christ Church This Saturday

Residents in a number of Christ Church districts will receive visits from Environmental Health Officers and Assistants who will be conducting house-to-house inspections on Saturday, September 21, from 8:15 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The officers, who will also be doing a survey on Mosquito Control and Dengue Fever, will be visiting the following locations: Gall Hill, Silver Hill, Kendal Hill and the environs.

All officers will be wearing identification badges. The public???s co-operation is encouraged during this exercise.

St. John Council Hosting Forum to Discuss Issues Affecting Youth

Listen II, a forum organised by the St. John Constituency Council and the Listen Charity, will take place this Saturday, September 21, at the Messiah House Wesleyan Holiness Church, Massiah Street, St. John. It will also be held on Saturday, September 28, at the same location.

Both sessions will run from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and parents/guardians, relatives, friends or concerned members of the public, who have an interest in intervening in the lives of young people are invited to attend. Topics to be discussed include: Peer Pressure; Gangs, Drugs and Crime; Bullying; Sex, HIV and AIDS; Homosexuality; and Technology.

Free Rodent Bait in Christ Church

Environmental Health Officers will be distributing free rodent bait in Christ Church on Saturday, September 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the following locations: The Gill Grill Bar, Gall Hill and Haynes Shop, Green Hill Drive, Silver Hill.

Persons with rodent problems are encouraged to take advantage of the free bait. Environmental Health Officers will also be on hand to give information on correct baiting procedures and diseases transmitted by rodents.
