World Heritage Workshop To Be Held For Principals

Principals of primary and secondary schools will learn more about sharing and preserving this island???s cultural assets and heritage when they participate in a workshop entitled: World Heritage in the Classroom.

Organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the workshop will take place on Wednesday, October 2, and Thursday, October 3, at the Ministry of Education, Elise Payne Complex, Constitution Road, St. Michael.

The opening ceremony of the World Heritage in the Classroom workshop will also take place at the Ministry on Wednesday, October 2, at 9:00 a.m. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, Ruth Blackman, will give an address.

The two-day session seeks to sensitise educators about the importance of teaching heritage ??? a form of cultural preservation. This follows a similar outreach held for teachers which took place in 2012.

October Is St. Joseph???s Parish Month

The public is invited to join the St. Joseph Independence Committee as it celebrates a month of activities beginning this Sunday.
Celebrations will start on Sunday, September 29, with a church service at the Horse Hill Church of the Nazarene beginning at 10:00 a.m.

On Wednesday, October 2, at 10:30 a.m. the committee will launch a month-long display at the Tamarind Hall Branch Library. Immediately after those proceedings, healthy food and drink samples will be served.

On Sunday, October 13, at 4:30 p.m. the Committee will host the second part of its Eliminating Chronic Health Obstacles: Security for the Future lecture and discussion at the Grantley Adams Memorial School.

The entire family is invited to the Healthy Balls and Fun Day on Saturday, October 19 at the Grantley Adams Memorial School from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Inter-School Health Smoothie Competition

The St. John Parish Independence Committee will host an inter-school smoothie competition under the theme, A Smoothier Way to Health.

It will be held on Friday, October 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Divi Southwinds Beach Resort, St. Lawrence Main Road, Christ Church.

Barbados Youth Service???s Residential Camp Postponed

The Barbados Youth Service???s Residential Camp for the September 2013 trainee intake, which was scheduled to start on Sunday, September 29, has been postponed until further notice.
