The Geriatric Hospital is gearing up for a week of activities in celebration of Senior Citizens??? Month from Sunday, September 22, to Friday, September 27.

The week will get started with a church service at St. Paul???s Anglican Church, Bay Street, St. Michael, on Sunday, September 22, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

The hospital will hold a public lecture on Tsunamis at the Coastal Zone Management Unit, Bay Street, St. Michael, on Monday, September 23, which will be delivered by Kareem Sabir at 2:00 p.m.?? Prior to the lecture, Selwyn Brooks, from the Roving Response Team will give a presentation on Disaster Preparedness for the Elderly, starting at 1:00 p.m. at the same venue.

Staff and residents will journey to Bath, St. John, on Tuesday, September 24, for a picnic at noon. Members of the public as well as staff and residents will be treated to a concert on the hospital???s grounds at Beckles Road, St. Michael, by the Royal Barbados Police Force Band on Wednesday, September 25, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

There will be an Open Day at the hospital on Thursday, September 26, from 9:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Nurse-in-charge of the Day Care, Undine Browne, said the theme Be Our Voices was chosen to reinforce the point that staff ???are the voices of the elderly???.

The public is invited to the highly anticipated ???Mini-Kadooment??? – an annual event ??? on Friday, September 27, which will see residents decked out in colourful costumes and parading on the grounds of the hospital. This event will begin at 10:00 a.m.
