An expected donation of two wheelchairs to the Geriatric Hospital at Beckles Road today turned out to be five, when the Rotary Club of Barbados upped the ante and presented that institution with more than they had previously promised.

Five brand new wheel chairs were handed over from the wives of the Rotary Club of Barbados by Mrs. Andrea MacKenzie to Yard Supervisor, Mr. Richard Corbin.

In explaining the change, Mrs. MacKenzie said: "We did not realise how badly in need the Geriatric Hospital was for wheelchairs and so we had to go back and add three more. We are delighted to donate the wheelchairs in celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the institution."??????

Acting Hospital Manager, Joanell Oxley-Worrell, in expressing appreciation for the gift, noted, "They would be used through-out the four floors of the institution and for transporting patients to and from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

She added: "It is a reflection of the institution’s continued ability to forge partnerships with the private sector, as well as other organisations like the Rotary Club of Barbados."
