The Geriatric Hospital. (FP)

The management and staff of the Geriatric Hospital, in partnership with the registered Charity – Association of Friends of the Geriatric Hospital, is inviting organizations to participate in a National Appeal Day under the theme: Caring For Those Who Cared For Us: Returning The Favour.

The Appeal Day will be held on Wednesday, October 31, at the Geriatric Hospital, Beckles Road, St. Michael, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Its aim is to encourage and motivate the private sector, NGOs, faith-based organizations and educational institutions to give back to the elderly who have conscientiously given of their time and resources towards the development of Barbados.

Donations collected will go towards the continuation of the rehabilitation works taking place at the Geriatric Hospital, as well as the St. Philip and St. Lucy District Hospitals and the Gordon Cummins Hospital.

The day will also mark the completion of Phase One of a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Barbados Defense Force (BDF).

The phase, which commenced on August 20 at the Geriatric Hospital, saw the BDF provide labour and technical support for major renovations of Wards 6A and 7A and the adjoining bathrooms, as well as the day room and kitchen facility.
