The Governor-General, Sir Elliott Belgrave visits with a patient of the Geriatric Hospital today during??the annual Christmas tour.?? (C.Henry/BGIS)??

Patients of the Geriatric and Psychiatric Hospitals received an early Christmas ???present’ today, when Governor-General Sir Elliott Belgrave and Lady Belgrave, paid them a visit.

Accompanied by Minister of Health Donville Inniss, Sir Elliott and his wife toured the two facilities to spread some Christmas joy.

Over at the Geriatric Hospital, Beckles Road, St. Michael, the Governor-General chatted with patients, many of whom were delighted to meet him for the first time. Some of them, like Valda Griffith, 92, showed that they could still "carry a tune". Joined by Lady Belgrave, Ms. Griffith sang some popular Anglican hymns.

Patients of the Psychiatric Hospital, Black Rock, St. Michael, displayed their talents by entertaining the Governor-General and other officials with song and drama.

Sir Elliot commended them for their performances and wished them a "Happy Christmas" and a New Year filled with "good health".?? He told the patients that he regretted the circumstances that would keep them away from their homes this Christmas.
