The nurses who were recruited from Ghana to work in Barbados’ healthcare system, and whose arrival was delayed by the COVID-19 global pandemic, are still coming, and are expected in the island shortly.

News of this came yesterday from Minister of Health and Wellness, Lt. Col. Jeffrey Bostic, who told a press briefing that the agreement which the Barbados Government had negotiated with the Government of Ghana for the provision of nurses was still in place, and he had recently spoken with his Ghanaian counterpart on the matter.

“That process is still very much with us and we anticipate that we will hear from Ghana some time during the course of this week, in relation to the date of travel of nurses from Ghana,” he stated.

Minister Bostic said the Ghanaian nurses will be deployed within the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and at primary healthcare facilities.
