Line dancing with be part of the Commission and Task Force’s activities at Agrofest.(FP)

The National NCD Commission of Barbados and the National Task Force on Physical Activity and Exercise will utilise a number of avenues during Agrofest, starting this Friday, February 22, at Queen’s Park to spread the message of good health.????????????

The Commission will again have a booth which will be located near to the band stand and there will be sampling of a number of fruit, vegetable and legume-based dishes, prepared and served by Chef/Caterer, Gilmore Stewart.?? The recipes were created by National Nutrition Centre Officers??and they will be on hand over the weekend??to answer any questions posed by members of the public and to glean feedback on the dishes.?? There will also be activities and games focusing on nutrition for students who will attend the exhibition on Friday.

This year, the booth will also feature a tobacco control corner where the National Committee for the Prevention of Alcoholism and Drug Dependency (NCPADD), will use puppetry to demonstrate the need to avoid drug abuse.?? Additionally, the Lions Bridgetown Club will be on hand to conduct blood sugar and blood pressure testing.

The National Exercise Taskforce will sponsor a one-hour line dancing session led by Leon Greaves on Saturday, February 23 at 4:00 p.m. and on the following day, Sunday, February 24, a zumba session will be led by the Zumbunnies from 5:00 p.m.

The public is asked to come dressed to move and learn something new at the booth, as there are prizes to be won for correct answers given during a health and nutrition quiz.??
