Government is committed to facilitating the emergence of an "army of entrepreneurs" that would provide Barbadian consumers with a range of products to suit their varied tastes.????

Prime Minister Freundel Stuart gave this undertaking recently while addressing the opening of the ultra-modern Carlton A1 Supermarket at Black Rock, St. Michael.

Emphasising that government’s role during the recession was not about creating temporary jobs or sending home government workers, he said the focus would be to "capitalise on them and help to create a new and more diversified economy".

"Since January 2008, we have, therefore, invested in the legislative, technological and institutional infrastructure to spread the culture of enterprise and we will continue to do so.?? Most recently, we have given incentives for exploring and using alternative sources of energy to reduce our reliance on expensive fossil fuels," Mr. Stuart surmised.

Akin to this objective, the Prime Minister said more success stories must be highlighted to convince Barbadians that wealth creation and employment were not outside of their reach.

"I believe that Andrew Bynoe is a fine example of the new breed of Barbadian entrepreneurs who have benefited from universal access to education since Independence, who have looked beyond the traditional professions and have chosen the new frontier of business enterprise.?? He [Bynoe] deserves our heartiest commendation," Mr. Stuart underlined.
