Seventeen agri-preneurs and 16 secondary school students will graduate on Saturday, October 15, from cohort two of the Youth Agri-preneurship Incubator Programme (YAIP) and the Youth Agri-preneurship Summer Camp, respectively.

The awards and graduation ceremony will be held at the Savannah Beach Hotel, Hastings, Christ Church, from 10:00 a.m. Among the speakers at the ceremony will be Minister of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management (MAFFW), Dr. David Estwick; Permanent Secretary, Esworth Reid; and Project Manager of the YAIP, Kareem Payne.

According to Mr. Payne, the programme, an initiative of the MAFFW, targeted youth between the ages of 16 and 35, with the aim of training them in the science and business of agriculture.

He further explained that the Summer Camp programme targeted secondary school students between the ages of 12 and 16 with the objective of exposing them to the “myriad opportunities in agriculture, and impressing upon them, the reality of agriculture being a science and a sustainable form of wealth and employment”.
