Over 60 participants from the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic???s (SJPP) first-ever training course in photovoltaic installations will graduate this month.
Having successfully completed the 45-hour two-credit course, introduced in January 2015, they will receive the SJPP Unit Certificate in Photovoltaic Installations1, in a ceremony at the Wildey St. Michael institution, on Tuesday, April 19 at 4:45 p.m.
The premier trainer in technical and vocational education and training, SJPP launched the inaugural course, Photovoltaic Installations 1 in 2015 with the assistance of Sault (pronounced su) College, Ontario, Canada.
It targeted participants with either one year in the solar photovoltaic industry and/or a SJPP certificate or diploma in electrical installation or its equivalent.
The graduation will coincide with a Sault College Mission during the week April 18-22, which will see SJPP???s staff being trained to deliver an upcoming course in Energy Advising and working to develop marketing strategies for other SJPP/Sault College projects.
Chief Energy Conservation Officer of the Division of Energy and Telecommunications, William Hinds and Principal of the SJPP, Hector Belle will address the graduation. Project Manager with Sault College, Ted Newbery will also deliver remarks.
Also expected to be in attendance are: Chief Research and Planning Officer, Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Human Resource Development, Mark Franklin, as well as industrial partner with the SJPP and Chief Executive Officer of Williams Solar, Ralph ???Bizzy??? Williams.
