Barbados and Cuba have taken steps to further develop the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Barbados.??

The MOU was signed on Wednesday, May 13, at the Protocol House of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Havana, Cuba by that country???s Acting Foreign Minister, Marcelino Medina Gonzalez and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean.??

Under the MOU, periodic visits and meetings will be undertaken by Ministers and senior officials of both parties as the need arises and, through their diplomatic missions, the countries will also inform each other about important domestic and foreign policy issues relating to their respective countries.??

The Permanent Representatives of both parties to the United Nations, as well as to other international organisations, will also maintain regular contacts and, if need be, consult on issues of common interest.
