As Barbados??? beaches continue to be littered by sargassum seaweed, the National Conservation Commission (NCC) is welcoming assistance in the clean-up efforts from interested groups.

Members of non-government organisations, service clubs, churches, schools, community and environmental groups are invited to contact Special Projects Officer in the Public Relations and Marketing Department of the NCC, Ricardo Marshall, at 425-1200, to express their interest.

This will allow for the NCC to mobilise additional staff and resources at beaches being targeted for the clean-up efforts.Mr. Marshall noted that maintenance crews were deployed daily to clear affected areas, and any assistance from interested groups would be welcomed.

The sargassum seaweed has washed ashore at a number of beaches stretching from River Bay on the north coast, to as far as the Richard Haynes Boardwalk along the south coast of the island.
