Residents of St. Lucy are advised that the Barbados Defence Force (BDF) will conduct a Gunnery Exercise on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, west of the Arawak Cement Plant, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The aim of the training exercise is to ensure the operational readiness of the Barbados Coast Guard, its maritime unit, in its mandate to protect and safeguard Barbados’ territorial waters.
The BDF has further advised that the exercise will pose no threat to mariners, fishermen and other personnel operating in this location. However, operators of all marine craft are urged to keep clear of the area and to use extreme care and caution during their activity there.
The coordinates are as follows:
- Firing Area Start Line: 13°16’N 059°43.25’W – 13°18’N 059°43.05’W
- Limit of the Advance Line: 13°16’N 059°44.38’W – 13°18’N 059°44.38’W
- Right Area Limit: 315°T
- Right Firing Limit: 300°T
- Left Firing Limit: 240°T
- Left Area Limit: 225°T
