The Ministry of Health requires a consultant to assist in the assessment of its surveillance systems for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI), and HIV, as well as other communicable and non-communicable chronic diseases.

The Consultant Strategic Information Officer will be responsible for the compilation of strategic information necessary to facilitate the scaling up of current interventions and to create effective prevention strategies, not only with regard to HIV management, but also chronic diseases.

The consultant will work with partners to acquire epidemiological data, convert that data into information and establish epidemiological systems for a one-year period.

Applicants should possess a post graduate qualification in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related discipline and at least five years’ relevant experience gained while working in a local or international health institution.?? Candidates should also have a degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related discipline, and at least seven years relevant experience.

In addition, the candidate should have the aptitude to function effectively in a team setting, the ability to adapt to new technologies and be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.

The Consultant will be an integral part of the HIV/STI Surveillance of the Ministry and will report directly to the Senior Medical Officer of Health (Communicable Diseases).?? He/she will also work on other matters related to communicable and non-communicable diseases.
