Minister of Health, Donville Inniss. (FP)??

Minister of Health, Donville Inniss, will on Friday, August 17, deliver the keynote address at the third annual China Health Forum (CHF). ??The event will bring together ministers of health, senior health administrators, health institution executives and international experts, to improve global health reform and strengthen international exchange and co-operation.

The CHF is being held at the China National Convention Centre in Beijing from August 17-18, and will focus on Deepening Health Care Reform, Improving the Prevention and Control of NCDs (Non-Communicable Diseases) and Sustainable Health Development.?? Minister Inniss’ presentation will focus on Health System Reform in Barbados.??????

The Minister’s participation in this forum is expected to provide an opportunity for Barbados to deepen diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China; share experiences, including successes in the area of health development; as well as to begin the groundwork for the development of bilateral relations in health.

The meeting will include a number of plenary sessions and seminars on topics such as: international experiences on health development and prevention; control of NCDs; social capital investment; public hospital reform; and, social capital investment in medical institutions. ??

Barbados has enjoyed more than thirty years of diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China.?? This relationship has resulted in increased commercial and business activity between the two countries, as well as reciprocal visits of high-level dignitaries.
