In support of activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of World Heart Day, the Ministry of Health will tomorrow, Tuesday, September 28, join with the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Barbados (HSFB), to present a public lecture on "Tobacco – The Burning Issues Explained" at 7:00 p.m.?? It will be held at the Errol Barrow Centre For Creative Imagination, University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus.

The lecture will be facilitated by Senior Medical Officer of Health for Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (Ag.) Dr Leslie Rollock. It will be followed by a panel discussion, which will be chaired by Senior Vice President of the HSFB, Humphrey Metzgen; and include Dr Rollock, Cardiac Surgeon (Queen Elizabeth Hospital) Anthony Harris and Acting Chief Environmental Health Officer, Desmond King. ??

??The primary focus of the lecture will be to discuss the ban on smoking in public places which comes into effect on October 1. Additionally, the actual legislation will be explained to the public and the impact of smoking on the cardiovascular system will also be detailed.
