Caribbean Nutrition Day will be commemorated on Monday, June 1.

In celebration of the day, the Caribbean Food and Nutrition Institute (CFNI), in collaboration with the National Nutrition Centre (NNC), will host a number of activities on Tuesday, June 2, under the theme, ???Healthy Eating and Active Living! A Family Affair???.

A wealth of information will be provided to participants, through lectures, presentations and displays at polyclinics across the island.

Patrons can learn to achieve healthier lifestyles through topics including: ???Healthy Eating???, with emphasis on the importance of the six food groups in the diet, ???Active Living???, through family activities and ???Nutrition Throughout the Life Cycle???.

Sessions will be facilitated by community nutrition officers: Glencil Taylor, who will be at the Edgar Cochrane Polyclinic from 9:00 a.m., Avia Callender-Medford and Brian Payne, at the Black Rock and Randal Phillips Polyclinics from 10:00 a.m. respectively, and Dr. Mark Alleyne, at the Winston Scott Polyclinic from 10:30 a.m.

Presentations will also be conducted by nutrition officer, Karen Griffith, at the St. Lucy District Hospital from 2:00 p.m.

Members of the public are invited to participate in these events. (MB)
