The criminal justice system is assisting class four primary school pupils, who recently sat the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination, in coping with potential negative challenges during the transition.

In the Winner’s Circle – Making the Right Choice’, a programme conceptualised by Magistrate Barbara Cooke-Alleyne of the St. Matthias Court, and executed by the National Task Force on Crime Prevention (NTFCP), will be tested at three urban primary schools next Monday, June 9, 2008.

The session for Wilkie Cumberbatch, Carrington’s and St. Giles Primaries will be held at the Prince Cave Hall, District “A”, Station Hill and begins at 10:00 a.m.

Correspondingly, three rural schools have also been invited to participate. St. Philip’s, St. John’s and St. Martins Mangrove Primaries will participate in the programme on June 13, 2008 at St. Martins Mangrove.

“This project,” according to the NTFCP, “seeks to examine several issues that pupils may encounter in their new secondary school life, including bullying, gambling, drugs, promiscuity and self-esteem.”

Several experts from the Royal Barbados Police Force, the Barbados Family Planning Association, the NTFCP and student dramatists will play their part, in helping the Magistrate to get the message across to the pupils.
