Those persons who were hoping to be a part of the first Freedom Footprints: The Barbados Story Heritage Tour this Saturday, January 8, but have not purchased tickets, will now have to wait a little longer.

That is the word from an official of the Barbados Museum and Historical Society, who revealed that the tour "is fully booked". She said close to 60 people were expected to go on the trek, which would include visits to the Newton Slave Burial Ground, Bourne’s Land, a free village established in 1831; Sweet Bottom, the oldest non-white village on the island, and the Gun Hill Signal Station.

Tours will also leave the Barbados Museum at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 20; Saturday, February 5; Thursday, February 17; Saturday, March 5; and Thursday, March 17.

Persons interested in participating in these tours should contact the Barbados Museum at telephone number 427-0201 to receive information on tickets and other details.

The Museum has been contracted by the Ministry of Tourism to conduct the pilot tours, which will allow the public to take a step back in time and traverse the path that led to freedom for many Barbadians.
