A High-Surf Advisory and Small-Craft Warning are in effect for Barbados until Monday, December 27.

The Barbados Meteorological Services has stated that a deep-layered Low Pressure System in the north-central Atlantic is generating large northerly swells.

Some of these swells, which range from 10 to 13 feet, will begin to impact the northern, eastern and western coastlines of Barbados this week. This activity is expected to persist over the holiday period.

Seas, greater than nine feet, will generate very large, breaking waves and dangerous rip currents along all coastlines of the island. All users of coastal areas are, therefore, advised to be vigilant for large breaking waves surging onto the shore. Persons should avoid the beaches, wherever possible.

Marine conditions will also be hazardous and small-craft should avoid navigating in such conditions.??clashley@barbados.gov.bb
