The Ministry of Health and Wellness, in collaboration with the National Task Force on Wellness, will resume its monthly hike for wellness programme on Sunday, August 23.

The hike, which will be the first since the COVID-19 shutdown, leaves Skeetes Bay, St. Philip, at 3:00 p.m.

The four-mile trek will proceed along the rugged coastline, passing the Bell Point protrusion and arriving in Consett Bay via the route of the Ancient Railway Line.

Hikers will traverse through the narrow pass known as Consett Cutting, which was carved out of the rock over 100 years ago, without the aid of hydraulic machinery. They will then proceed back to Skeetes Bay through Supers and Fortescue.

It is expected to last two and a half hours and is suitable for children, adults, and even elderly people.  Anyone wishing to participate is advised to bring drinking water and a snack, and to wear suitable clothing and comfortable shoes.

The free event is being held under the theme Barbados Moves! Let’s Get Moving!  The public is reminded that COVID-19 protocols will be observed, including the wearing of masks and hand sanitising.
