This island’s natural beauty will be discovered by some members of the public on Saturday, October 29, when the Barbados Museum and Historical Society hosts a free hike through Joe’s River Woods, St. Joseph.

The New World: Preserving Paradise is the theme of the walk, which will take place from 6:30 to 9:00 a.m., and is in celebration of 2011 being designated the International Year of Forests. The hike will be sponsored by LIME and the US Embassy and those persons interested in participating in it or ascertaining further details should contact the Museum by telephoning 427-0201 or emailing info@barbmuse.org.bb.

Hikers can enter any photographs they capture in the woods in an online photo competition, for which entries must be submitted between Saturday, October 29 and Saturday, November 12.
