Employees on plantations and construction sites along the south-east corridor of the island should be better equipped to protect themselves and their loved ones against HIV and AIDS.

This is because tomorrow, Friday, January 20, the Ministry of Labour and Social Security will conduct its third HIV and AIDS Awareness Bus Tour to several plantations and construction sites in Christ Church and St. Philip.??

Commencing at 9:00 a.m. at the Hannay’s Plantation in Christ Church, the bus tour will make several short stops at various locations along the way, until it concludes at Three Houses Plantation in St. Philip.

At each stop, peer educators and staff of the HIV and AIDS Project Unit of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security will engage with plantation and construction workers. Brief informative sessions, focusing on educating persons about HIV and AIDS, will take place, and workers will be provided with information and safety packages.??

The bus tour is part of the Ministry of Labour’s HIV and AIDS continued outreach programme, which has been designed to target "hard to reach persons".??

From Hannay’s Plantation the tour will proceed to Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens, Christ Church for 9:25 a.m.; Searles Plantation, Christ Church for 10:00 a.m. and then head to St. Philip.

It is scheduled to reach Four Square Plantation, St. Philip, by 10:30 a.m.; and continue on to Sunbury Plantation for 10:55 a.m.; Carrington Workshop, St. Philip for 11:20 a.m.; Edgecumbe, St. Philip for 11:45 a.m.; Chapel Plantation for 12:15 p.m.; Mount Pleasant, St. Philip, for 12:45 p.m. and conclude at Three Houses Plantation, St. Philip, at 1:30p.m.??
