Lyricists, writers and those up for the challenge are invited to participate in the Labour Department’s 2012 HIV Poetry Competition.

Being held under the theme, It’s Time to Kiss Stigma and Discrimination Goodbye, the competition is open to officers in the public sector, in addition to those persons who work in statutory and quasi-governmental organisations.

The contest is in its fourth year and is part of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security’s HIV and AIDS awareness programme.

Entry forms should be collected from the Labour Department and participants are advised that they should write a poem based on the theme. Entries should be submitted to the Labour Department, 2nd Floor East, Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael, no later than Friday, January 27.??

Prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners during the Love Safely Week, which will be held from February 13 to 17. The department submitting the winning entry will receive a challenge trophy as well as a winner’s trophy.

An individual trophy will be up for grabs, while the winner will receive a weekend staycation for two at Divi Southwinds. The second place prize is a Colombian Emeralds Gift Certificate valued at $350, while the third place prize will be an Atlantis Submarine night dive.
