In an effort to ensure that Persons Living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA) have the basic amenities this Christmas season, staff at the Registration Department have donated a number of food items to the Food Bank.

In a presentation this morning at the Registration Department, Supreme Court Complex, Food Bank Manager in the Ministry of Health’s HIV/AIDS Department, Stacia Whittaker, explained that the Ministry provided food assistance for PLWHA who are in need.

Stressing that not everyone living with the virus may need the support, the Food Bank Manager said they wanted to encourage healthy eating habits and, as a result, they placed "special emphasis on food with nutritious content".

The Food Bank caters to clients referred by health care providers who may have social and economic challenges.?? These clients are also given information on how to get the most out of the food items given, in a safe and nutritious manner.

Corporate Barbados is also encouraged to support the Food Bank by donating food, conducting a food drive or fund raiser, making corporate donations, volunteering time or by joining the "Adopt -A- Shelf" Project.??
