The National HIV/AIDS Commission is issuing a "call for papers" for its biennial HIV Research Symposium, which will take place from December 3 to 4, 2012, at the Savannah Hotel.

Research Papers and Posters expressing the theme "New Developments in Prevention Thinking: Implications for Caribbean HIV Policy" are welcomed. Priority will, however, be given to research that addresses the concerns of the National Strategic Plan for HIV Prevention and Control, 2008-2013, and points a strategic direction for the years 2014-2018.

Researchers are invited to submit papers on various issues, including: HIV/STI Testing: From VCT to PICT/Rapid Testing and the Public Response; Treatment, Care, Support and Positive Prevention relating to Persons Living with HIV (PLHIV, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, NULL, NULL, 0); New Directions in Prevention (structural, behavioural, biological and combined interventions) as well as issues surrounding Sexuality, Stigma and

Vulnerability of Key Populations (PLHIV, MSM, Sex Workers, Prisoners, Persons with Disabilities, Women, Youth and Children). Studies that address Monitoring and Evaluation; and Programme Management and Coordination are also invited.

Submissions should be based on primary research conducted in Barbados and/or syntheses of research conducted regionally and internationally, with emphasis on the implications for research and policy development in the Barbadian context.

All presentations should be based on research conducted in accordance with ethical principles, and framed by the principles of human rights and gender equality.

Abstracts should be no more than 150 words, with a brief biography and contact details should be submitted to The Director, National HIV/AIDS Commission, 2nd Floor East, Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael, or emailed to researchsympo@hiv-aids.gov.bb by September 30, 2012.

Authors of papers selected for the symposium will be invited to give a 15 minute Power Point presentation. Poster presentations should last no longer than eight minutes. Presenters are not be required to pay a registration fee.
