The Ministry of Labour and Social Security is taking its HIV/AIDS prevention message to the street again with a bus tour, this time targeting agricultural workers in the central and eastern part of the island.

It will take place tomorrow, Thursday, July 21, and is part of the Ministry’s HIV/AIDS Education Programme, aimed at reducing the vulnerability of all workers to HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses.??

HIV/AIDS peer counsellors, led by the Project Coordinator, Rhonda Boucher, will visit a number of plantations and farms in St. George, St. John and St. Joseph, where literature and promotional items will be disseminated.?? A short quiz will also be given to workers to ascertain their knowledge on matters related to HIV/AIDS.?? ??

The tour begins at the Valley Plantation, St. George, before moving on to Constant Plantation and Barbados Farms Ltd. as well as Buttals, Brighton, The Mount and Drax Hall Plantations, all in St. George.?? From there the team will go on to Kendal, Colleton and Society Plantations in St. John, before returning to St. George to visit Redland Estates.

The final stop for the HIV/AIDS peer counsellors will be at Andrews Factory in St. Joseph, where a dramatisation will be put on.?? A skit will also be staged at Barbados Farms.??
