Thirty Barbadian women will soon be receiving valuable skills to help them make rational decisions in their relationships.

The National Organisation of Women, (NOW) in collaboration with the Bureau of Gender Affairs, will host a one-day seminar on Saturday, April 25, entitled “HIV/AIDS: Decision-Making in Intimate Partner Relationships”. It will be held at the Barbados Workers’ Union, Solidarity House, Harmony Hall, St. Michael, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Women 30 years and over who are interested in participating in the workshop should contact the Bureau of Gender Affairs at 310-2103 or the President of NOW, Yvonne Walkes, at 426-3492.

The objectives of the seminar are to make safe sex a shared responsibility between both partners; help participants gain the necessary skills to discuss their thoughts, feelings and concerns about engaging in safe sex, particularly in long-term relationships; and to identify ways of communicating with partners, while being sensitive to the potential challenges.
