Holetown, Barbados is the right place for the award-winning London-based Interior Design company, Jenny Blanc, to establish its new showroom.
This observation was made by Minister of International Business and International Transport, George Hutson, as he gave the welcome remarks last evening at the opening of the new showroom in Sunset Crest, St. James.??
"Holetown is the point where the first English settlers visited our shores, so this is really the right place for Jenny Blanc to have established her business.?? It certainly fits in with the other developments that we have been having in the immediate area.?? I am thinking in terms of the LimeGrove project, and it (Jenny Blanc) compliments that particular initiative," Minister Hutson said.
He commended the winner of the World’s Best Interior Design award, Jenny Blanc, for her decision to invest in Barbados and specifically on the West Coast of the island.
Pointing to the global economic recession as a challenge for most companies, the International Business Minister stressed it was significant that a small business with a world renowned brand-name such as Jenny Blanc, had chosen Barbados as its base from which the elite interior designer would serve clients in the island and the wider Caribbean.
"It (Jenny Blanc) certainly brings a new mix to the type of businesses that we have in the Holetown area.?? We have from the very small business right through to the bigger, upmarket, high international brand-name businesses here," Minister Hutson further noted.??
He praised the internationally acclaimed interior designer, for her desire to work with local artisans to create a furniture line, while acknowledging Jenny Blanc’s role in training and partnering with Barbadian, Sue Thomas-Richardson.??
He noted: "This is one of the benefits that we get when businesses from outside come into Barbados, [they] help to train and develop our citizens in these specialised areas."
