Leader of Government Business, Ronald Jones??(FP)

Members of Parliament will discuss three items, when the Lower House convenes tomorrow, Tuesday, February 16.

Leader of Government Business, Ronald Jones, is expected to move the passing of a Resolution for $9 014 038 to be taken from the Consolidated Fund to be used by Government to supplement the Estimates 2009 -2010.This is indicated in the

Supplementary Estimates No. 8 2009-2010, which form the Schedule to the Resolution. The explanatory notes to Head 62 are also to be amended as set out in schedule II to the Resolution.

Deputy Prime Minister, Attorney General and Minister of Home Affairs, Freundel Stuart, will submit the First Reading of the Penal System Reform (Amendment) Bill, 2010. This Bill will make provision for the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the Caribbean Court of Justice to award compensation for personal injury, loss or damage resulting from an offence for which a conviction has been entered and to provide for related matters.

Minister of Economic Affairs and Empowerment, Innovation, Trade, Industry and Commerce, Dr. David Estwick, will table a motion for the Second Reading of the Barbados Water Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2008. This measure seeks to make changes to the Barbados Water Authority Act. Cap. 274A and gives the organisation the power to determine rates and charges with respect to the supply of water and sewerage services subject to regulation by the Fair Trading Commission.

Meanwhile, The Upper House will meet on Wednesday, February 17 to pilot two items.

Leader of Public Business, Senator Maxine McClean, will move a Resolution for Government to compulsorily acquire land at Applewhaites, in St. George, Blackmans

and Easy Hall in St. Joseph, Forty Acres in St. Thomas and Vineyard, St. Philip. The land is to be used for residential purposes.

Senator McClean is also expected to table the Archives (Amendment) Bill 2010. This Bill will seek to make improvements to the Archives Act Cap. 19B to increase the membership of the Archives Advisory Committee and to provide for related matters.
