Barbados could soon be seeking assistance from China as government continues efforts to develop the island’s housing sector.

This was one of the issues discussed recently, when Ambassador-designate to the People’s Republic of China, Sir Lloyd Erskine Sandiford, paid a visit to Minister of Housing, Michael Lashley at the ministry’s headquarters, Country Road, St. Michael.

Minister Lashley said training and the sharing of expertise in housing development for staff of the Ministry and the National Housing Corporation would be greatly appreciated.

He added that the Ministry’s rental unit programme could also benefit from close collaboration with the Chinese.

Sir Lloyd stated he would assist in developing closer ties between both countries and explore opportunities for further cooperation in the housing sector.
