Some of the units at Stuarts Lodge, Tweedside Road, St. Michael.

The housing units under construction at Stuarts Lodge have been described as being of a "high standard".

This view was expressed by Housing and Lands Minister, Michael Lashley, today following a tour of the St. Michael site.

He stated that the 20 three-bedroom homes were on target to be handed over soon.?? "We are hoping that by the end of September, we will be finished with this project and will hand over keys to Barbadians, hopefully by October… I want to congratulate the small contractor for doing this job in terms of putting in his finances up front and starting the project, and [the] NHC, thereafter, making stage payments," Mr. Lashley said.

He also called on more contractors to come forward with funding since it gave the "NHC flexibility in terms of its finances".??

The $5M Tweedside Road project being constructed by ADC Building and Maintainence Limitedwill either be a rent-to-own and/or rental property, with rates being determined by the National Housing Corporation’s management in consultation with the Board, and possibly the Cabinet.

During today’s visit, workers were at the time putting the finishing ??ouches on the units which were started in June 2009.?? Minister Lashley was at the time accompanied by Project Manager at the NHC, John Jackman: Acting General Manager, Lanette Napoleon-Young: Acting Deputy General Manager, Garvey Alleyne and Acting Permanent Secretary, Edison Alleyne. lbayley@barbados.gov.bb
