The Ministry of Housing and Lands, through its Housing and Neighbourhood Upgrading Programme (HNUP), will host an Application Fair this coming Saturday, June 19, in Heroes Square, Bridgetown, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The purpose of the fair is to assist persons applying to the Incremental Home Construction Programme (IHCP).

During the event, personnel from the ministry and the National Housing Corporation (NHC), will address any queries by visitors, assist with the completion of application forms and ensure that the relevant documents are submitted.

The Incremental Home Construction Programme is a part of the Affordable Housing Component of the HNUP. The IHCP provides a subsidy of a maximum of $10, 000 or 70 per cent of total project costs for low-income householders who qualify, to carry out minor repairs or renovations to their homes.

HNUP is a BDS$80 million dollar programme which is funded by the Government of Barbados and the Inter-American Development Bank. The main objectives of the programme are to: upgrade, redevelop and revitalise select low-income communities across Barbados; provide solutions to the challenge of affordable housing and incremental home construction and strengthen the agencies involved in the provision of housing and neighbourhood revitalisation. askeete@barbados.gov.bb
