Public officers involved in human resources management and development will get the opportunity to sharpen their craft in those areas when the Ministry of the Public Service hosts a virtual Public Service HR Week, from Monday, March 21, to Friday, March 25.

Under the theme Our Workforce, Our Wealth, there will be a series of virtual presentations and discussions each day, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., aimed at promoting Human Resource Management (HRM) and development as viable professional career options within the public service.

Acting Director in the Ministry of the Public Service’s Learning and Development Directorate, Fay-Marie Browne, said the week would promote continuing professional development by targeting HR professionals across the public service, and establish an effective community of practice in HR by sharing best practices to promote continuous learning to drive the HR transformation in the public service.

Mrs. Browne added: “It will also facilitate discussion regarding the creation of a modern model of HR to improve performance, productivity, and growth in the public service.”

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley; Director General Human Resources, Gail Atkins, and other officials will be among the speakers during the virtual opening ceremony on Monday, which runs from 9:30 to 11:05 a.m.

The webinar will feature a number of HR-related topics presented by personnel in the Ministry of the Public Service’s People Resourcing and Compliance, Human Resource Policy and Staffing, and Learning and Development Directorates, and other guest speakers.

Those topics include HR Analytics; Modernising of the Recruitment Function; Reframing HRM; Mental Health; Emotional Intelligence in HR; Achieving Work Life Balance, and National Vocational Qualification Certification.

Activities will culminate on Friday, March 25, with an outdoor networking session.
