One school which has benefited from the School Improvement Grant (SIG) offered under the Skills For The Future (SFTF) Program, will be visited tomorrow by officials of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation.
It is St. George Secondary School at Constant in St. George. Officials will tour the facility from 1:30 p.m., and speak with Principal, Sonja Goodridge, teachers and students, to gain a full assessment of the outcomes of the SIG.
Following this tour, the IDB and Ministry representatives will travel to BIMAP in Wildey, St. Michael, to see first-hand one of the several winning partnerships that received funding via the Competency-Based Training Fund (CBTF) in action.??This second tour is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
Programme Director of the Programme Coordinating Unit of the Ministry, Junior Burgess, as well as IDB???s Education Lead Specialist, Dr. Sabine Reible-Aubourg, will deliver remarks during the visits.
The visits form part of the IDB???s March 9 to 13 mission, during which the Bank is reviewing progress on the various components of the SFTF.??At a meeting on March 9, the CBTF was hailed by Dr. Reible-Aubourg as ???the flagship of SFTF???, having successfully awarded funding to several winning partnerships on the island and seen most of these implementing their stated training.
In that same forum, the IDB was provided with an update on the status of winning partnerships from the first and second round of Call for Proposals; the impact evaluation of the CBTF; as well as the communications campaign of the CBTF. |
The Bank???s representatives also heard about efforts in train for partnerships expecting to submit proposals for the third round.??The Skills For The Future Program is funded by the IDB under a US $20 million loan agreement, which was signed in 2012 by the Government of Barbados.
