The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will conduct a mission here next week from December 8 to 10, to assess the progress of work being undertaken under the GOB/IDB Skills For The Future Program, by the Ministry of Education, Science Technology and Innovation.

The key objectives of the mission will be to review progress on the various components of the loan and the Annual Operating Plan for 2015, particularly the status of the Competency Based Training Fund, and the second round of call for proposals, including the announcement of winners and possible first payment.

It will also review and update the Procurement Plan to ensure the advancement of Component 3, which looks at capacity building and institutional strengthening. The St. Leonard???s Boys??? Secondary School where the A Ganar program is being implemented will also be visited.

On Tuesday, December 9, the IDB team, led by Education Lead Specialist, Dr. Sabine Reible-Aubourg, is expected to visit an A Ganar session at the school, in Richmond Gap, St. Michael.??Meetings will also be held with the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Human Resource Development, the Caribbean Development Bank and USAID.??

The Skills For The Future Program is funded by the IDB under a US$20 million loan agreement, signed in 2012 by the Government of Barbados (GOB).
