Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley will meet next week with President of the Inter-American Development Bank, Luis Alberto Moreno.

Ms. Mottley disclosed that Mr. Moreno would be coming to Barbados for the talks next Wednesday. She made the disclosure today at Government Headquarters during a press briefing to discuss her recent meeting with the International Monetary Fund’s Managing Director, Christine Lagarde, in Washington.

The Prime Minister said Mr. Moreno had expressed a willingness to stand “shoulder to shoulder” with Barbados during these difficult economic times. She said the IDB recognised that Barbados was “doing a difficult thing”, but was “doing the right thing in acting in this manner”.

“They know, as we do, that once we settle this arrangement, it unlocks hundreds of millions of development capital for us to fix our broken infrastructure and … to create the platform for greater competitiveness,” Ms. Mottley stated.
