Farley Hill Great House??

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to stroll down Bridgetown in the 1800s or to see Farley Hill Great House before it was gutted by fire?

Then the Barbados Museum and Historical Society’s newest exhibition will be a treat for you.

Entitled "Exposed: Images of Yesteryear", the exhibition offers Barbadians, including lovers of history and photography, an opportunity to view many rare images of the island.??????

Patrons can view what Roebuck Street and River Road looked like over 100 years ago and Joe’s River and Bathsheba in the early 1900s.

The exhibition depicts landscape images, portraits and family albums.

The selection of photographs from the Museum’s collection will also allow visitors to examine the earliest commercially available photographic processes, including daguerreotype, tin type, albumen, glass plate negatives, callotype and the early 20th century use of photographic gel images.

The exhibition will run until June 11, 2010, Mondays to Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.

It is a unique opportunity to see the changing views of Barbados through the photographic lens, and visitors may request copies of the photographs on display.

Admission to the Museum, St. Ann’s Garrison, St. Michael, is free to locals and all CARICOM nationals.
