The Ministry of Health???s survey to measure immunisation coverage of children in Barbados got under way on Friday, December 18.

The purpose of the survey is to validate the officially reported vaccination coverage data for the country.

Public health nurses will be visiting selected homes and schools to examine the green cards/books of children up to five years old to ensure that they are fully vaccinated.

Visits to schools will focus on examining the green cards of older children, and parents should ensure that they send their children???s green card to school when requested to do so by teachers. Nurses will be carrying the appropriate identification from the Ministry of Health.

The survey will end on Friday, January 29, and all information collected will be kept confidential. It is being conducted by the Ministry, in collaboration with the Pan-American Health Organization.
