An employee of NCO demonstrates a function to Prime Minister David Thompson

A major daycare facility and adequate bus services are two of the enhancements expected in the Harbour Industrial Park, Harbour Road area.

This was revealed recently by Prime Minister David Thompson after a tour of NCO Financial (Barbados) SRL, which is located in that area.

Mr. Thompson noted that the daycare facility would be “extremely helpful to the workers”, while the bus service would assist them in being punctual for work and would improve the security of persons leaving work.

He pointed out that the young people he met during the tour were very articulate and opportunities needed to be provided for them. “Wherever we can provide them with the education and the training as well as jobs commensurate with their life ambitions we are going to pursue it and also the accoutrements that would help them to achieve those objectives,” the Prime Minister stated.

In his remarks, Senior Vice President of NCO’s overseas office, Jay King observed that with 110 call centres around the world, Barbados was one of the largest and fastest growing sites.

He stressed that NCO had a policy of management from within the company, noting that there was an online NCO university, in addition to which trainers worked closely with the associates to take them through a certification process.

“A few years ago it was less than 100 people and today, now 1200 associates. And just to see some of the associates who started out in entry level now leading management positions is a great thing for us. We hope to continue to grow our business even during the economic times, this is a great time for NCO and we appreciate the support of this country to help us continue our success,” Mr. King remarked.

NCO is a provider of business process outsourcing services (BPO) primarily focused on accounts receivable management and customer relationship management for a diversified customer base.
