Those persons who need assistance completing their 2007 income tax returns can still utilise the services of personnel from the Inland Revenue Department.

Staff of the department will be on hand at the Barbados Public Workers Co-operative Credit Union Ltd., Keith Bourne Complex, Belmont Road, from tomorrow, Wednesday, April 23, until Wednesday, April 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. However, the service will not be offered on Heroes Day, Monday, April 28, a public holiday.

Persons are also reminded that if they do not deliver a return of income by April 30, or fail to estimate the tax payable they will be fined $100; and for failure to pay an amount of tax estimated, five percent of the tax due and unpaid or $10, whichever is the greater, must be paid.

In addition, interest is payable on any unpaid tax and penalty at the rate of one percent for each month during which any amount of tax and penalty remains unpaid.
