The Barbados Drug Service (BDS) has been given the nod by the Ministry of the Civil Service to hire additional pharmacists and ancillary staff.?? This is to facilitate increased workload occasioned by the shift by some clients from private to public sector pharmacies.??

Four of the pharmacists have already started work and additional staff is expected to be in place by early June.????

The BDS is continuing to monitor the implementation of the dispensing fee, changes to the Barbados National Drug Formulary and their effects on the public and private sectors.??

Members of the public are reminded that there have been changes to the Formulary and are, therefore, encouraged to check with their pharmacists to determine if the medicines they have been using are still on the Formulary or if generic equivalents are available.?? Persons may also call the BDS at 467-9510 for assistance and additional information. (JG/BGIS)
