Come Saturday, August 28, the Jackie Opel Amphitheatre, General Post Office, Bridgetown, will be transformed into a cultural arena, when the Community Independence Celebrations Secretariat officially launches its 2010 programme.

The event is expected to be multi-cultural, with presentations of dance, drama and song, as it seeks to inform members of the public of upcoming Independence activities and encourage their participation.

Patrons will be introduced to this year’s Parish Independence Committees, the Parish Ambassadors and will witness the presentation of the Jackie Opel Spouge Award.

They will also be treated to a potpourri of calypso, folk and other musical genres, by Cherish Breedy, the Sing Out Barbados Youth Arm and the Mighty Grynner.?? The Genesis Dance Group will pay tribute to Barbados with a choreographed dance piece entitled: Beautiful Barbados.

Minister of Community Development and Culture, Steve Blackett, will deliver the feature address during the launch. jwilson@barbados.gov.bb
