Over 1,000 troops will demonstrate their skills and showmanship at this year???s Independence Ceremonial Parade on Monday, December 1, at the Bridgetown Port, beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Following the parade, the troops will march through The City to Independence Square, where the armed detachments will be dismissed. The unarmed units will continue on to Probyn Street for their dismissal in the area of the Bridgetown Fire Station.

Governor General, Sir Elliott Belgrave, will inspect the detachments on parade. At the end of the ceremony, the troops will exit the Bridgetown Port via the North Gate and march to the Barbados Port Inc. building, where Prime Minister Freundel Stuart will take the salute.

The detachments on parade will be: the Barbados Defence Force (BDF), the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF), the Barbados Cadet Corps, the Barbados Prison Service, the Barbados Fire Service, the Government Security Guard Service, the Barbados Youth Service, the Barbados Boy Scouts Association, the Girl Guides Association, the St. John Ambulance Association, the Red Cross Society, the Barbados Landship Association, the Seventh-day Adventist Pathfinders, the Mounted Troop of the RBPF, and the Bands of the BDF and RBPF.

Spectators will also enjoy a special presentation by the Band of the Royal Barbados Police Force, which is celebrating its 125th Anniversary this year.
