The Index of Industrial Production for the month of July 2010 indicated that output levels for All Industries stood at 83.7. This indicates that the output level decreased by 2.8 points or 3.3 per cent compared with June 2010 and fell by 2.3 of a point or 2.7 per cent when compared with July 2009.

The Manufacturing division, which is the main component of the Production Index fell by 4.3 points or 6.1 per cent compared with the previous month and fell by 3.0 points or 4.3 per cent compared with July 2009. Increases were recorded for Chemicals Division by 22.9 points or 25.3 per cent; and Other Manufacturing combined by 5.3 of a point or 6.7 per cent when compared with June 2010. Within this division, there were decreases recorded for Food by 18.8 points or 16.6 per cent; Beverages and Tobacco by 0.2 points or 0.3 per cent; Wearing Apparel by 9.0 points or 39.7 per cent; Wooden Furniture by 30.6 points or 21.6 per cent; and Non-Metallic Mineral Products by 46.7 points or 18.5 per cent when compared with the previous month. The Electronic Components subdivision remained unchanged over the previous month.

The Mining and Quarrying division increased by 6.0 points or 6.3 per cent compared with June 2010 and increased by 15.3 points or 17.9 per cent when compared with July 2009.

Within the Mining sub-division, crude oil rose by 1.0 points or 1.5 per cent compared with the previous month and fell by 0.1 of a point or 1.0 per cent compared with July 2009. The Quarrying sub-division increased by 9.7 points or 8.4 per cent compared with that of the previous month and rose by 26.6 points or 27.0 per cent compared with July 2009.

The Electricity, Gas and Water division increased by 2.4 points or 1.5 per cent over that of the previous month and fell by 1.9 points or 1.2 per cent below that of July 2009.
