The Index of Industrial Production for the month of July 2011 was 83.8.

This indicated that the output level increased by 4.1 points or 5.2 per cent compared with June 2011 and fell by 1.6 points or 1.9 per cent when compared with July 2010.

The Manufacturing division, which is the main component of the Production Index, increased by 3.8 points or 6.0 per cent compared with the previous month and rose by 0.3 of a point or 0.4 per cent compared with July 2010. Increases were recorded for the Beverages and Tobacco by 41.1 points or 61.0 per cent; Wearing Apparel by 9.9 points or 89.1 per cent; Chemicals by 4.3 points or 5.7 per cent; and Non-Metallic Mineral Products by 18.6 points or 7.7 per cent when compared with the previous month. Within this division, there were decreases recorded for the Food Division by 10.0 points or 10.4 per cent; Wooden Furniture by 1.9 points or 2.4 per cent; Electronic Components by 17.5 points or 47.6 per cent and Other Manufacturing by 2.2 points or 2.7 when compared with May 2011.

The Mining and Quarrying Division fell by 4.4 points or 5.3 per cent compared with June 2011 and decreased by 30.3 points or 28.0 per cent when compared with July 2010. Within the mining sub-division, crude oil fell by 14.8 points or 19.7 per cent compared with the previous month and declined by 7.9 points or 11.7 per cent compared with July 2010. The Quarrying sub-division increased by 3.2 points or 3.6 per cent compared with that of the previous month.

The Electricity, Gas and Water division rose by 6.8 points or 4.4 per cent over that of the previous month. Increases were recorded for Electricity by 1.3 points or 0.8 per cent; Natural Gas by 0.9 of a point or 2.5 per cent and Water by 23.1 points or 22.9 per cent over the previous month.
