The Index of Industrial Production for the month of June 2013 was 76.7. This indicated that the output levels increased by 0.6 points or 0.8 per cent compared with the previous month and increased by 1.9 points or 2.5 per cent when compared with June 2012.

The Manufacturing Division, which is the main component of the Production Index, increased by 1.4 points or 2.4 per cent compared with May and increased by 3.2 points or 5.6 per cent compared with June 2012.

The Mining and Quarrying Division increased by 21.0 points or 33.1 per cent compared with May 2013 and decreased by 3.7 points or 4.2 per cent when compared with June 2012. The Electricity, Gas and Water Division decreased by 5.9 points or 3.7 per cent above that of the previous month.

Manufacturing Index
The group movements within this division are detailed as follows:

Food:

The Food division for June 2013 decreased by 5.9 points or 6.5 per cent over that of May 2013 and decreased by 7.6 points or 8.3 per cent in comparison to June 2012.

Beverages and Tobacco:

The combined Index rose by 3.3 points or 4.1 per cent compared to the previous month and increased by 6.5 points or 8.4 per cent compared to June 2012.
The Beverages Index increased by 4.6 points or 4.1 per cent when compared to the previous month and increased by 9.1 points or 8.5 per cent over the previous year.
The output for Tobacco showed no significant change over the previous month and decreased by 0.2 per cent of a point or 21.6 per cent in comparison with June 2012.

Wearing Apparel:

This division increased by 3.7 points or 34.3 per cent above that of the previous month, and decreased by 6.3 points or 30.0 per cent below the previous year.

Wooden Furniture:

This division increased by 7.8 points or 7.9 per cent over May 2013 and increased by 2.6 points or 2.5 per cent over June 2012.

Chemicals:

The combined index for this division decreased by 5.0 points or 6.0 per cent in comparison to the previous month and increased by 7.8 points or 11.0 per cent over June 2012.
The Industrial Chemical Index decreased by 15.4 points or 8.9 per cent below May 2013, and the Other Chemicals Index also decreased by 0.9 of a point or 1.8 per cent over the previous month.

Non-Metallic Products:

Output for this group increased by 7.1 points or 3.3 per cent compared to May 2013 and increased by 114.9 points or 106.4 per cent compared to June 2012.

Electronic Components:

The index for this group increased by 4.8 points or 33.9 per cent over the previous month and increased by 1.3 points or 7.4 per cent below the previous year.

Other Manufacturing:

This index decreased by 6.3 points or 9.5 per cent below the previous month and decreased by 7.9 points or 9.8 per cent over June 2012.

Mining and Quarrying

Within the mining sub-division, crude oil fell by 3.1 points or 4.8 per cent compared with the previous month and decreased by 7.5 points or 10.9 per cent compared with June 2012. The Quarrying sub-division increased by 38.6 points or 61.2 per cent compared with that of the previous month.

Electricity, Gas and Water

Within the Electricity, Gas and Water Division, the generation of electricity decreased by 7.3 points or 4.2 per cent below the previous month. Natural Gas decreased by 5.0 points or 11.2 per cent below May 2013. Net generation of water decreased by 1.9 points or 1.5 per cent below the previous month and increased by 1.1 points or 0.9 per cent over June 2012.
