The Index of Retail Prices for December 2015 stood at 166.9 points, representing a decline of 0.4 per cent when compared with the 167.5 points recorded the previous month.

According to data produced by the Barbados Statistical Service, an increase was recorded for Medical and Personal Care by 0.1 per cent, while Household Operations and Supplies and Education, Recreation and Miscellaneous remained constant during the period.

Decreases were registered for Transportation by 1.6 per cent; Fuel and Light by 1.1 per cent; Housing by 0.3 per cent; Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, as well as Clothing and Footwear, by 0.2 per cent each, and Food by 0.1 per cent.

Between December 2014 and December 2015, the Index of Retail Prices decreased by 2.4 per cent from 171.1 to 166.9 points. The average inflation rate for that 12-month period was 1.0 per cent.
