The Index of Retail Prices for April 2013 stood at 165.5 points, representing an increase of 0.3 per cent when compared with the 165.0 points recorded for the previous month.

Increases of 3.0 per cent were recorded for Clothing and Footwear; 2.4 per cent for Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco; 0.9 per cent for Housing; 0.5 per cent for Education, Recreation and Miscellaneous; 0.4 per cent for Household Operations and Supplies; and 0.2 per cent for Food.

Decreases of 0.5 per cent were recorded for Fuel and Light; 0.3 per cent for Transportation and 0.3 per cent for Medical and Personal Care.

Between April 2012 and April 2013, the Index of Retail Prices increased by 1.8
per cent, from 162.6 points to 165.5 points. The average inflation rate for that same 12-month period was 2.6 per cent.
